week two term 3
Kia Ora everyone. After a long holiday I am back at school and busy busy busy. Speeches, Kapahaka, Po Panikeritanga, Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori, WIMs sevens and most of all the Band Slam. In week one I was sick and unable to come to school so I was quarantined! Here is more info on my week.
Excellence night.
On Tuesday night we had a Po Panikeritanga (excellence night) where the extension Maori students showcased their learning/teachings so far this year. I said a speech about Te Puea and I sung a himene (a hymn in Maori) called Hine E hine otherwise known as the famous song Goodnight Kiwi. Bringing parents into tears we had a big feed. It was a good night. Even a student said their in full Maori.
Haka Extravaganza
During Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori on Friday we did a big school haka competition between the houses. Composed by our very own all boys class teacher Matua Pou we blew the roof off our ALC. As far as we know a video was uploaded onto facebook and it has had over 7,000 hits.
Band Slam
Band Slam was pretty awesome with hard core rockers and a full house. Don't want to spoil the moment so this is all I will say about it.
It is time I headed off and got onto the current week's post. Until then so long.

Winged Victory (Beacons of Light) - Brian Balmages
Winged Victory conducted by Mrs Ringle
Scrambled scrambled scrambled
This term I had scrambled all my posts so hopefully next term it is not as confusing as it was this term. The past two weeks have been awesome with Music Day totes epic and there was a concert with the Te Awamutu college, Te Awamutu Intermediate. Waikato schools band and Waikato youth band combined!!!
Music Day
Music Day was cool. I got a bit argumentative during the Maori composition workshop we had with Dr. Te Manaaroha. As you can see I was in my element but then asked us if we agreed that guitar and keyboard are the main instruments to do composition and I was the only one who objected this so I made a complete fool of myself by explaining my reasons.. After that A lot of people agreed with me. In the end we had performed infront of the school. we played three pieces of music Pink Panther, Royals and thinking out loud.
Concert
Mrs Ringle came in from the USA to conduct a piece of music winged victory. You had to be there instead of telling in words.
I have gone blank so this is all I can think of. Hopefully next term I can write heaps about what happened heaps.
